Chanel SS2014: Back With An Art Attack

October 1, 2013

Bring on the pantonier we ll be putting on a show! That’s what Karl probably said to his team of restless designers that were frantically working hours before the show. And the result? Far from something worth calling art, Lagerfeld gave a show not that different from last season: a bit of pastels, great lego bags in cool colors and yet again the Chanel tweed, twisted and turned in all directions.

The only thing that saved the show was the last 10 pieces, which was a pantone gone wild effect. However, unlike the designers that did embody the art subject (see Celine’s strokes of genius or Miuccia’s portraits of femininity, both in primary colors), Lagerfeld’s take seemed far less visionary and much more litteral (after all the models wxere carrying painting tools).

On the plus side, his make up interpretation of art is something that all make up artists and other cosmetics afficionados will be trying to copy to the very last brush.
