26/30 Balmain’s Ballet & Roll

September 26, 2013

Unlike the tastefully neoethnic Dries Van Noten woman or the non chalante Saint Laurent girl, the Balmain girl is all about putting on a show and is more often than not all about a baroque aesthetic, infused with rock & roll.

Long after the visionary work of Christophe Decarnin, the latest addition to the maison Balmain (none other than the talented and very young Olivier Rousteing) has so far managed to rise to the occasion. After an an amazing denimlicious cruise collection, Rousteing gave pastels the rock&roll twist that they needed to feel fresh again. And there’s nothing cooler than pied de poule ensemble in pastel shades.

Mix them with shapes in feathers and romantica notions and you get a hit: in ss2014, your Balmain girl has a reason to have a big smile on her face and a small leftover in her wallet.
