14/30 Ceci N’est Pas Une Chaise & Other Stories

September 14, 2013

So it’s rainy, it’s Saturday and the gloomy spirit of September blues is taking over. So, a design reboot seems to be the best cure to cheer you and distract you from the city stress and any deadline that’s overdue. In our beautiful world of imagery, a chair is never a chair, as each and every object is a conotation of who you are. (After all, you are what you consume). and in this constant effort of building your own brand, a kind of consumer id, even the simplest item in your boudoir, such as a chair, can make or break your universe. So before the eminent disaster that’s called being broke over useless material possesions here are some must haves that make design worth looking out for:

1. Rick Owens’ new line of furniture (apocalyptic/back to origins)

2. the Eame’s rocking chair in fluo colors

3. Any colonial references (whether Dahlstrom superstructure or Acapulco chair)

4. The very furry version of Starck’s Mademoiselle

5. The beastial references of the crazy Haas Brothers
