Let There Be (Next) Spring : Menswear SS 2014

June 23, 2013

ImageDespite the gloom and doom of Parisian summer weather, it was a breeze of fresh (fashion) air in Milano. Color was everywhere: From Bailey’s succesful use of primary colors, often reminiscent of a Hockney painting and Calvin Klein’s 50 shades of blue (5,6),the message was clear: go bold or go home. Of course blue was not the only color ruling the runway: say hello to the new variation of tangarine brights, from Versace’s orange blossom paint(3) to Jil Sander’s full on orange. White on white will be around for yet another season, whether you go for the clinical Jil Sander (7) or the aetherial version of Burton’s Mcqueen. On the other side of the Italian continent, Miuccia decided to go down south, very very south and all the way to the tropics, reinterpreting Hawaiian chic(8) from shirts & blazers to accesories and skinny ties. So far, menswear seems to be a promising season, it’s only a matter of time to see what the Parisian boys will be up to next year. Stay tuned.
