And just like that, millions of consumers are fixated on the latest beauty trend that helps us fight the thing we re most afraid of: the dark. Undoubtedly, the beauty industry most certainly did not let us down. Whether it’s the latest  Youth Code Luminize by L’Oréal Paris, Touche Eclat by the iconic YSL, Idealist by Estée Lauder and even Chanel with Le Blanc, your skin will look more radiant and more illuminated than ever.

However, in a society where the notion of “I am what I consume” has become a transnational mantra, what does this obsession with light signify? Is it a reaction against the dark times of an ever ending economic crisis that seems to be haunting us? Is it an optical illusion that helps us sleep at night? Or is it an optimistic turn signaling that those dog days are officially over? Whatever the answer, the products are here to mark a new era. The era of Light.
