Up In The Air: Chanel Couture 2012

Yes. Karl Lagerfeld and his team are genius for creating once again the show of the season. This time around, the fashion elite was part of the most exclusive flight airline set, with models being the hostesses of a somewhat spectacular show.

However the entertainment factor aside, the show was certainly not a sensation. Personally found that the clothes were missing the wow factor and fell flat in comparison to an OTT setting. Undoubtedly the craftmanship was there, but  when you set the bar that high you are bound for disappointment. The hair styling seemed almost irrelevant. Yes, blue is the colour of the season (just look at PanAm, Iron Lady, and most of the spring collections) but the interpretation of the colour palette chosen seemed almost too literal and even dated at times. Certainly this will neither stop the clientele from splurging insatiably nor will it reduce any sales. Chanel, time to buckle up? there’s bound to be some turbulence.
