Lights, Camera, Chanel!

January 6, 2012

This is one of those rare, iconic moments of fashion where clothes stop being just clothes and they become part of something bigger, something that i dare to call art. Because Karl Lagerfeld’s photographic talent for the latest Chanel campaign featuring Saskia de Brauw and Joan Smalls has blown me away. Reminiscent of something out of Helmut Newton’s or even Mapplethorpe’s portraits of symmetry named Thomas, Mr Lagerfeld is playing with the notion of serenity, limitless beauty and fragility in a very refreshing way. One thing is for sure: The sirens of the sea, in line with the most aquatic season of all, will be emerging to the surface in pure awe.
